Apply a deliberate-choice test to recurring decisions to distinguish between endorsed habits and unexamined autopilot.
Why This Is a Principle
This principle derives from the axiom that automatic processes operate without conscious control (Automaticity Without Conscious Control) and that habits form through context-reward associations (Habits as Context-Response Associations). Combined with autonomy as authorship (Autonomy is the felt sense of being the author of your own), it prescribes the sovereignty test: asking 'Am I choosing this?' to distinguish deliberate from automatic behavior.
