Principlev1
Calibrate information granularity to match working memory
Calibrate information granularity to match working memory capacity and task complexity — too fine produces fragmentation, too coarse produces overload.
Why This Is a Principle
Derives from Working Memory Capacity Limit (working memory holds 3-5 items) and Directed Attention as Depletable Resource (cognitive resources are finite). The 4C/ID model discussion shows how grain size must be calibrated to cognitive capacity. This is prescriptive: chunk information to fit working memory constraints for the current task.
