Why This Is a Principle
This principle derives from axioms about autonomy, authority, and compliance (Most people do not experience themselves as the authority, Autonomy is the felt sense of being the author of your own, Authority can mandate compliance but cannot mandate). It prescribes a design process—collaborative rather than unilateral—specifically because of how humans respond to imposed versus chosen structures. It applies to any team environment and grounds to multiple axioms about human motivation and authority.
