Log failures with equal rigor to successes—changes that produced no effect or made things worse constrain your search space more than successes that might be luck.
Why This Is a Principle
Derives from prediction error as the learning signal (Learning occurs when outcomes differ from predictions,) and the degradation of tacit knowledge (Knowledge that exists only in tacit form degrades without). Negative results generate learning by showing you what doesn't work. The principle prescribes documenting them to make that learning explicit and permanent.
