Principlev1
Monitor trends across time windows rather than point-in-time
Monitor trends across time windows rather than point-in-time snapshots to detect gradual degradation before threshold failures occur.
Why This Is a Principle
This is a principle derived from Exponential Information Decay (exponential decay of information) and Process variation consists of two fundamentally different (common vs special cause variation). It prescribes HOW to monitor (trends vs snapshots) given that systems degrade gradually and variation has different types. It's actionable and general enough to apply across monitoring contexts while being more specific than the axioms.
