Integrate the committed action from your review…
Close every output review by integrating the committed action from question 4 directly into your next production cycle's plan before ending the session, ensuring review insights become operational changes rather than intellectual observations.
When This Fires
- At the end of every output review session (Four-question output review)
- When previous reviews produced great insights that never got implemented
- When the same learning appears in multiple consecutive reviews (sign of insight-action gap)
- Complements Four-question output review (four-question review) with the closure step that makes the review operational
Common Failure Mode
The noted-but-not-implemented insight: "Great review! I learned I should batch my social posts on Mondays. I'll start doing that... sometime." Without immediate integration, "sometime" means "never." The calendar stays the same, the workflow stays the same, and next month's review discovers the same insight.
The Protocol
(1) After completing Four-question output review's Question 4 (What one thing will I change?), do not end the review session yet. (2) Open your next cycle's plan (weekly plan, production calendar, project board). (3) Integrate the committed action directly: add the calendar block, update the template, modify the workflow step, change the checklist. The change should be visible in the plan, not just noted in the review document. (4) Verify: "If I follow next cycle's plan as written, will this change happen automatically?" If yes, the integration is complete. If no, more structural embedding is needed. (5) Only after the integration is confirmed do you close the review session. The session's output is not "insights gained" but "plan modified."
