Why This Is a Principle
Derives from the fact that unresolved cognitive commitments persist (Open-Loop Cognitive Cost (Zeigarnik)), status quo bias prevents spontaneous evaluation (People disproportionately stick with default options even…), and memory of why commitments were made decays (Exponential Information Decay). Prescribes temporal structure to counteract these forces.
