Principlev1
Test whether organizational purpose is operational rather
Test whether organizational purpose is operational rather than aspirational by tracking whether it gets explicitly referenced in actual decisions over a defined period.
Why This Is a Principle
Derives from Actual behavior reveals operative values more reliably than (actual behavior reveals operative values more than stated preferences), When espoused values and basic underlying assumptions (when espoused values conflict with basic assumptions, assumptions win), and Measurement of behavior changes the behavior being measured. (measurement changes the measured behavior). The principle follows: if behavior reveals true values and unconscious assumptions dominate, then operational purpose must be detectable in behavioral patterns, and measurement provides the detection mechanism.
