Why This Is a Principle
This derives from distributed cognition (Extended Cognition Thesis), behavior being a function of person and environment (Behavior is a function of both the person…), and system behavior arising from structure (The behavior of a system arises from its structure…). The principle prescribes recognizing that cognitive capability is a system property, not an individual property.
