Why This Is a Principle
This derives from Goals as Perceptual Filters (goals determine relevance), Losses loom larger than equivalent gains in human (negativity bias), and Positive emotions broaden cognitive repertoire and build (positive emotions build resources). The principle prescribes exception-finding as a method that counteracts the negativity bias by redirecting attention toward what works.
