Principlev1
When presenting complex information to diverse audiences,
When presenting complex information to diverse audiences, create multiple entry points at different abstraction levels rather than a single linear document, allowing each reader to start at their appropriate depth.
Why This Is a Principle
This derives from Expertise Transforms Perceptual Chunking (expertise changes chunk size), Expertise Through Deliberate Practice (expertise enables perceptual differentiation), and Expertise as Domain-Specific Schema Organization (expertise is domain-specific schemas). The principle follows: since experts and novices literally perceive different patterns in the same material, a well-designed information hierarchy must provide access at multiple levels simultaneously rather than forcing everyone through the same sequential path. This is progressive disclosure applied to audience diversity.
