Principlev1
Embed organizational values through consistent leader
Embed organizational values through consistent leader behavior during emotionally significant moments rather than through policies or statements.
Why This Is a Principle
Derives from observational learning (Humans acquire new behavioral patterns through observational) and basic assumptions trumping espoused values (When espoused values and basic underlying assumptions). When conflict exists between stated values and observed behavior during crises, people follow behavior. This principle prescribes the mechanism for value embedding: leader behavior at critical moments, not declarations.
