Axiomtheoreticalv1
Human beings construct identity through ongoing narrative
Human beings construct identity through ongoing narrative processes rather than discovering a pre-existing fixed self.
Why This Is an Axiom
This is the foundational theoretical commitment of narrative identity theory (McAdams, Bruner, Dennett). It cannot be derived from other claims in the curriculum — it is the bedrock assumption that makes all subsequent narrative identity work possible. All other narrative principles depend on accepting that narrative is constitutive rather than merely descriptive.
