The complete cycle: five steps as a unified engine
Goldratt's Five Focusing Steps are not five independent techniques. They are a cycle — a closed loop that operates continuously on any system you care to improve. Step one: identify the constraint (Every system has a bottleneck, Find the bottleneck before optimizing). The cycle begins with the question "where is the bottleneck?" Your tools are time tracking, queue observation, value stream mapping, and the constraint identification question: "Which resource, if doubled, would most increase my total output?" The diagnosis must be evidence-based because the three biases — frustration bias, visibility bias, and capability bias — reliably steer you toward the wrong constraint. You cannot skip this step. Every subsequent step depends on it being accurate.
Step two: measure the constraint (Bottleneck measurement). Once identified, the bottleneck must be quantified. Not "it feels slow." How slow? What is the cycle time? What is the throughput rate? What is the variance between your best performance and your worst? You learned from Deming that variation, not averages, is where the diagnostic information lives. A constraint that costs you two hours every day is a fundamentally different problem from one that costs you ten hours on Monday and zero on Tuesday through Friday — even though both average two hours per day. Exploitation asks: given the bottleneck's current capacity, am I using 100% of that capacity for the highest-value work? Almost never. Goldratt observed that most factory bottlenecks were idle during lunch breaks, wasted time on setups that could be done offline, and processed low-priority jobs when high-priority ones were waiting. If your bottleneck is deep-work capacity and you have three hours of it per day, exploitation asks whether all three hours are spent on the work that most moves your throughput — or whether thirty minutes go to email, twenty minutes go to a meeting that could have been an async message, and fifteen minutes go to choosing what to work on because you did not decide the night before. Exploitation is free. It costs nothing except honesty about how the constraint's capacity is currently allocated.
Step four: subordinate non-bottlenecks (Subordinate non-bottlenecks). This is the counterintuitive step, and the one most people resist. Subordination means deliberately reorganizing every non-bottleneck step around the constraint's pace. It means slowing down steps that are faster than the bottleneck, because speeding them up only creates queues that waste the bottleneck's capacity on managing excess inventory. In personal systems, subordination means things like: if your constraint is editing, do not draft faster than you can edit — the growing pile of unedited drafts creates cognitive load that further degrades editing throughput. If your constraint is decision-making, do not gather more information than your decision-making capacity can process — the surplus creates option overload that slows decisions further. Subordination feels wasteful because it asks you to leave non-bottleneck capacity idle. But idle capacity at a non-bottleneck is free. Idle capacity at the bottleneck is the entire system's lost throughput. Goldratt said it plainly: an hour lost at the bottleneck is an hour lost for the entire system. An hour saved at a non-bottleneck is a mirage.
Step five: elevate the constraint (Elevate the bottleneck). When exploitation and subordination have extracted everything the current constraint can give, you invest in expanding its capacity. Elevation costs something — time, money, effort, learning. It might mean hiring, training, buying better tools, redesigning a process, or delegating. The reason it comes fifth, not first, is that elevation without exploitation is wasteful. If you buy a faster machine before ensuring the existing machine is being used at full capacity, you are paying for capacity you did not need. Goldratt saw this repeatedly in factories: managers requesting budget for new equipment when existing equipment was idle 30% of the time due to changeover delays, lunch breaks, and batch-size miscalculations. In personal systems, the equivalent is buying a course to develop a skill when you are not yet deploying the skill you already have at full capacity. Elevate only after you have exploited. The sequence is not optional.
Step six (the hidden step): prevent inertia — detect the shift (After fixing one bottleneck another emerges). When you successfully elevate a constraint, it stops being the constraint. The bottleneck migrates to a new location in the system. This is not failure. It is progress. The bottleneck taxonomy: six types, six strategies

Human bottlenecks (Human bottlenecks in team systems) are constraints imposed by the skills, capacity, or availability of a specific person — often you. The measurement is throughput per unit of that person's time. The exploitation strategy is ensuring that every hour of the bottleneck person's day is spent on work that only they can do, with everything else delegated or eliminated. The elevation strategy is either skill development (increasing the person's capacity) or duplication (training someone else to share the load). Herbert Simon's concept of bounded rationality is directly relevant here: the human bottleneck is often not about ability but about the cognitive limits of attention and processing capacity. You cannot think faster than your working memory allows. You can, however, ensure that your working memory is allocated to the highest-value cognitive tasks rather than dissipated across trivia.
Tool bottlenecks (Tool bottlenecks) are constraints imposed by the instruments you use — software, hardware, processes, or physical equipment. The measurement is the gap between what the tool can do and what you need it to do, expressed as lost throughput. The exploitation strategy is learning to use the tool at its full capacity (most people use 20% of their tool's features). The elevation strategy is replacing the tool. The diagnostic signal is consistent: if you are waiting for the tool rather than the tool waiting for you, the tool is a candidate constraint.
Process bottlenecks (Process bottlenecks) are constraints imposed by the sequence or structure of steps in your workflow. The measurement is end-to-end cycle time, with special attention to wait times between stages. Mike Rother and John Shook's value stream mapping technique, formalized in "Learning to See," is the primary diagnostic instrument. The exploitation strategy is eliminating waste within the process — unnecessary handoffs, redundant approvals, batching that introduces delay. The elevation strategy is redesigning the process itself, which often means removing steps rather than speeding them up. Taiichi Ohno, the architect of the Toyota Production System, identified seven categories of waste (muda) in processes: overproduction, waiting, transportation, over-processing, inventory, motion, and defects. Each of these can create a process bottleneck, and each has a specific countermeasure.
Information bottlenecks (Information bottlenecks) are constraints imposed by the availability, quality, or accessibility of information you need to proceed. The measurement is time-from-information-needed to time-information-available. The exploitation strategy is pre-positioning information — anticipating what you will need and retrieving it before the moment of need, rather than interrupting your workflow to search. The elevation strategy is building information infrastructure: reference systems, decision logs, searchable archives, and knowledge management practices that reduce retrieval latency from hours to seconds. Claude Shannon's information theory, while developed for communication channels, provides a useful frame: the information bottleneck is a bandwidth problem. The channel between the information source and your decision-making process has limited capacity, and that capacity determines how fast you can act.
Decision bottlenecks (Decision bottlenecks) are constraints imposed by your ability — or inability — to commit to a course of action. The measurement is decision latency: the time between when a decision is needed and when it is made. The exploitation strategy is establishing decision frameworks that pre-resolve common decisions, reducing each one from a deliberation to a lookup. The elevation strategy is developing decision-making skill — faster pattern recognition, clearer values hierarchies, pre-commitment to criteria that eliminate options without deliberation. Simon's satisficing concept is critical here: the decision bottleneck is often caused not by the difficulty of the decision but by the pursuit of optimality. Seeking the best option when a good-enough option would maintain throughput is a form of constraint waste. The satisficer outperforms the maximizer not because their decisions are better but because their decision throughput is higher.
Energy bottlenecks (Energy as a system bottleneck) are constraints imposed by your physical, cognitive, or emotional capacity to do the work the system requires. The measurement is the point at which throughput degrades — the hour of day, the day of week, or the context after which your output quality or speed drops below a usable threshold. The exploitation strategy is protecting peak energy periods for constraint-level work and relegating low-value tasks to low-energy periods. The elevation strategy is improving the underlying energy system: sleep quality, nutrition, exercise, stress management, workload design. Cal Newport's concept of deep work capacity is a direct description of the cognitive energy constraint — a limited reservoir that depletes with use and regenerates with rest. Nassim Nicholas Taleb's concept of antifragility adds a dimension: some energy constraints respond not just to rest but to controlled stress. The system that is never challenged does not build capacity. The system that is appropriately challenged grows stronger. The elevation strategy for energy is not just recovery but calibrated overload followed by recovery.
These six types are not mutually exclusive. A real system often has multiple constraint candidates across different types, and the binding constraint at any given time is the one with the lowest throughput rate. The taxonomy's value is in ensuring you diagnose accurately. An energy bottleneck treated as a process bottleneck does not improve. A decision bottleneck treated as a tool bottleneck does not improve. The type determines the remedy.
The practice layer: visibility, prevention, and the journal
Knowing the Five Focusing Steps and the six bottleneck types gives you a framework. Frameworks are necessary but not sufficient. Goldratt argued that most factory constraints were invisible not because they were hidden but because the information systems were not designed to surface them. The same is true in personal systems: your task manager shows you what is done and what is overdue, but it does not show you where work is accumulating, which stage has the longest queue, or which resource is at capacity. Making the bottleneck visible means designing your information environment so the constraint's status is always in your peripheral awareness — a dashboard, a physical board, a daily check-in question, or a metric that you review before starting each work session.
Prevention (Bottleneck prevention) is the practice of designing systems that resist constraint formation in predictable failure modes. If you know from experience that your decision bottleneck worsens when you have more than five open decisions, you build a rule: no new decisions enter the queue until at least one is resolved. If you know your energy bottleneck activates after three consecutive days without exercise, you build exercise into the non-negotiable structure of your week rather than treating it as optional. Prevention does not eliminate bottlenecks — that is impossible in any finite system. It reduces the frequency and severity of predictable constraint patterns, freeing your constraint management attention for novel bottlenecks rather than recurring ones.
The bottleneck journal (The bottleneck journal) is the instrument that ties visibility and prevention together over time. It is a structured record of your constraint observations — what the bottleneck was, how you measured it, what you did about it, and whether the throughput metric moved. Over weeks and months, the journal reveals patterns that no single observation can surface: chronic constraints that keep recurring despite intervention, seasonal bottleneck shifts tied to workload cycles, correlations between constraint severity and contextual variables like sleep, travel, or emotional state. The journal is to bottleneck analysis what a lab notebook is to experimental science — the record that turns isolated observations into cumulative knowledge.
Without this practice layer, the Five Focusing Steps remain an intellectual exercise. You understand them, you can explain them, and you do not use them. The practice layer is what converts a framework you know into a system you operate. The gap between knowing and operating is the gap between reading about exercise and doing it. The practice layer is the doing.
Goldratt's legacy: from the factory floor to your life
Eliyahu Goldratt was a physicist by training who wandered into manufacturing optimization and never came back. His 1984 novel "The Goal" is the most widely read business book written as fiction, and for good reason: it makes an abstract idea visceral. The story of Alex Rogo and the Herbie Scout — the slowest kid on the hike who determines the pace of the entire group — is the bottleneck metaphor rendered as narrative. When Rogo realizes that the entire hiking group cannot move faster than Herbie, and that the only options are to put Herbie at the front (making the constraint visible) or to lighten Herbie's backpack (elevating the constraint), the Theory of Constraints stops being a theory and becomes something you can feel.
Goldratt extended the framework in "Critical Chain" (1997), applying constraint thinking to project management. The core insight: traditional project management pads every task with safety time, which is then wasted through Student Syndrome (waiting until the last moment to start) and Parkinson's Law (work expanding to fill the time available). Critical Chain says instead: remove the safety time from individual tasks, pool it into a project buffer at the end, and manage the constraint — the longest chain of dependent tasks. The result is faster project completion with less wasted time. The paradigm shift is the same as in manufacturing: stop optimizing individual tasks and start managing the constraint that governs the whole.
But Goldratt did not emerge from a vacuum. His work stands on a lineage of systems thinkers who saw the same patterns from different angles.
W. Edwards Deming, working in post-war Japan, taught that quality is a systems property, not an inspection outcome. You do not improve quality by catching defects at the end. You improve it by redesigning the process so defects do not occur. Deming's fourteen points for management, published in "Out of the Crisis" (1986), include several that map directly to constraint thinking: constancy of purpose (know what the system is for), cease dependence on inspection (build quality into the process), and drive out fear (because fear causes local optimization — people protect their own station rather than optimizing the whole flow). Deming and Goldratt arrived at the same conclusion from different starting points: the system is the unit of analysis, and local optimization is the enemy of system performance.
Taiichi Ohno, the chief engineer at Toyota who developed the Toyota Production System, codified a complementary approach. Where Goldratt focused on identifying and elevating the single binding constraint, Ohno focused on eliminating waste throughout the entire value stream. The seven wastes — overproduction, waiting, transportation, over-processing, inventory, motion, and defects — are all symptoms of misaligned flow, and they cluster around bottlenecks. Ohno's pull system, where downstream stations signal upstream stations to produce only what is needed, is subordination in Goldratt's terms: it prevents non-bottleneck stations from overproducing and creating inventory that burdens the constraint. Goldratt and Ohno disagreed on emphasis — Goldratt started with the constraint and worked outward, Ohno started with waste and worked inward — but they converged on the same operational outcome: a system where work flows at the pace of its limiting factor, without excess accumulation at any point.
Donella Meadows, in "Thinking in Systems" (2008), provided the theoretical framework that encompasses both Goldratt and Ohno. Her twelve leverage points — places in a system where intervention produces disproportionate effect — are ordered from least to most powerful. Adjusting parameters (flow rates, buffer sizes) is at the low end. Changing the rules of the system is in the middle. Changing the goals of the system, and ultimately the paradigm out of which the system arises, is at the top. Bottleneck analysis, in Meadows' framework, operates across multiple leverage levels. Exploiting a constraint is a parameter adjustment — low leverage, but immediate. Subordinating non-bottlenecks is a rule change — higher leverage. And recognizing that every system has a constraint, and that constraint management is a permanent operating discipline rather than a one-time fix, is a paradigm shift — the highest leverage of all. It changes not what you do but how you see.
This phase has taught you to operate across all of these levels. You can adjust parameters (measure and exploit the constraint). You can change rules (subordinate non-bottlenecks, implement prevention protocols). And you have undergone the paradigm shift: you now see your personal systems as flows governed by constraints, not as collections of independent steps to be individually optimized. That shift in seeing is Goldratt's deepest contribution, and it is irreversible. Once you see the bottleneck, you cannot unsee it.
The constraint as gift
There is a reframe that Goldratt offered in his later work that most people miss, because it sounds paradoxical until you sit with it: the bottleneck is not the enemy. It is the single most valuable piece of information in your system.
Think about what it means to know your constraint. It means you know, with specificity, exactly where improvement effort will produce results. It means you can stop guessing. It means you can stop spreading your optimization energy across ten different things in the hope that one of them is the right one. It means you can ignore — deliberately, strategically, with full confidence — everything that is not the constraint, because you know that improving those things will not improve your system's output.
Most people have no idea where their leverage is. They work hard across the board. They improve whatever seems improvable. They read productivity advice and apply it uniformly to every part of their workflow. And they wonder why the effort does not translate into results. The reason is that effort without constraint-awareness is diffuse. It lands everywhere and concentrates nowhere. It is like watering an entire field evenly when only one patch has seeds — most of the water is wasted.
Knowing your constraint focuses your effort the way a lens focuses light. The same total energy, concentrated on the point that matters, produces heat instead of ambient warmth. This is why constraint-aware operators — in factories, in software teams, in personal systems — consistently outperform operators who work harder but without constraint diagnosis. The constraint-aware operator does less total work and produces more total output, because every unit of work lands on the leverage point.
The constraint is also a gift because it simplifies. When you are overwhelmed by the complexity of your system — too many things to improve, too many possible interventions, too many productivity frameworks competing for your attention — the constraint cuts through the noise. It says: this one thing. Start here. Everything else can wait. The psychological relief of that narrowing is as valuable as the operational benefit. Decision fatigue about what to improve next disappears when you know the constraint. You do not need to choose among twelve possible improvements. You need to address one bottleneck.
Taleb's concept of antifragility adds another dimension. A system that never encounters constraints does not develop the capacity to manage them. A system that regularly identifies, exploits, and elevates its constraints becomes structurally better over time — not just at the specific bottleneck but at the meta-skill of constraint management itself. Each cycle through the Five Focusing Steps makes the next cycle faster, more accurate, and more effective. The constraint is the load that makes the system stronger, provided you engage with it rather than avoiding it.
The meta-constraint: when the bottleneck is your ability to find bottlenecks
There is a self-referential loop buried in this framework that deserves explicit attention. The Five Focusing Steps begin with "identify the constraint." But what if the constraint is your ability to identify constraints? What if the bottleneck in your system is the diagnostic step itself — the measurement, the observation, the honest assessment of where throughput is actually limited?
This is not a philosophical curiosity. It is the most common real-world failure mode for people who learn bottleneck analysis. They understand the framework. They agree with the logic. And they cannot bring themselves to do the diagnostic work, because the diagnostic work requires confronting uncomfortable truths. The bottleneck might be a skill they are proud of but that is objectively inadequate for the demand. It might be a relationship that consumes disproportionate emotional bandwidth. It might be a decision they have been avoiding for months. The diagnostic reveals what you have been pretending is not there, and that revelation has a psychological cost that many people are not willing to pay.

The journal is the doing. It is the practice that builds the perceptual skill that makes the framework operational rather than theoretical.
Simon's bounded rationality is relevant here. Your cognitive system has finite capacity for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to signals from your environment. You cannot simultaneously track every possible constraint across every system you operate. The journal externalizes this monitoring — it offloads the tracking from working memory to a written record, which means your cognitive constraint (attention) is spent on analysis and intervention rather than on remembering what you observed last Tuesday. The externalization is not a convenience. It is a necessity imposed by the architecture of human cognition.
The Third Brain: AI as constraint management partner
Throughout this phase, the "Third Brain" sections have described specific AI applications — using AI for constraint diagnosis, for measurement interpretation, for exploitation planning. In this capstone, the vision broadens to the full cycle.
Consider what becomes possible when you have an AI system that has access to your bottleneck journal, your measurement data, your value stream maps, and your throughput metrics. That system can do things that exceed human cognitive capacity applied to self-analysis.
Constraint identification across systems. You operate multiple systems — work, health, learning, relationships, finances. Each has its own constraint. But you also have meta-constraints that span systems: a single resource (like energy or decision bandwidth) that is the binding constraint across multiple domains simultaneously. An AI with visibility into all your systems can identify cross-system constraints that are invisible when you analyze each system in isolation. It can notice that your writing throughput, your exercise consistency, and your decision quality all degrade on the same days — and that those days correlate with sleep below six hours. The cross-system constraint is sleep, and no amount of domain-specific optimization will address it.
Constraint prediction. Your bottleneck journal contains historical data about constraint shifts. Over time, patterns emerge: the constraint tends to shift from energy to decision-making during high-stress weeks, from process to information during new projects, from human to tool during scaling periods. An AI can detect these patterns and predict constraint shifts before they fully manifest, allowing you to pre-position exploitation strategies rather than reacting after throughput has already degraded. This is the difference between reactive constraint management (noticing the bottleneck after it has formed) and predictive constraint management (anticipating it and preparing).
Exploitation optimization. When you identify a constraint and attempt to exploit it, you make choices about how to allocate the constraint's capacity. An AI can simulate alternative allocation strategies against your historical throughput data and suggest exploitation approaches that you might not consider. If your constraint is three hours of deep work per day, the AI can analyze which allocation of those three hours — across which projects, in which sequence, at which time of day — has historically produced the highest throughput. Your intuition about allocation is biased by recency, salience, and urgency. The AI's analysis is biased by nothing except the data.
Subordination enforcement. The hardest part of subordination is maintaining it. You subordinate a non-bottleneck by deliberately constraining it, and then three days later the old habit reasserts itself: you start drafting faster than you can edit, or taking on new projects faster than you can onboard them, or gathering more information than you can process. An AI monitoring your system can flag subordination violations in real time — "You have started four new drafts this week but completed zero revisions. Your editing queue is growing. The subordination protocol suggests pausing new drafts until the queue clears." The AI becomes the enforcement mechanism for a policy you set but cannot maintain through willpower alone.
Shift detection. When a constraint migrates, there is a lag between the shift and your awareness of it. During that lag, you continue optimizing the old constraint while throughput stagnates. An AI monitoring your throughput metric can detect the stagnation pattern — effort at the current constraint continues, throughput does not improve — and alert you that the constraint may have shifted. This reduces the detection lag from weeks (the typical human lag) to days or hours, which means you spend less time working on a problem that no longer exists.
The vision is not a fantasy. Every capability described above requires only structured data (your journal, your metrics, your value stream maps) and an AI system that can process that data and surface patterns. The infrastructure is your bottleneck journal, your measurement protocol, and your willingness to make the data available. The AI is the analytical layer that operates on top of that data with speed and pattern-recognition capacity that human cognition cannot match when directed at itself.
This is the Third Brain at its fullest expression: not a replacement for your constraint-management judgment, but an augmentation that extends your diagnostic range, accelerates your detection speed, and maintains your operational discipline across time spans that exceed human attention and memory.
Why this is systems thinking, not just a productivity hack
There is a risk, at the end of a phase this practical, of reducing bottleneck analysis to another item in the productivity toolkit — alongside time blocking, the Pomodoro technique, inbox zero, and whatever the current trend offers. That reduction would miss what this phase has actually taught you.
Bottleneck analysis is not a technique. It is a way of seeing. When you look at any system — your content pipeline, your hiring process, your learning practice, your household logistics — and automatically ask "where is the constraint?", you are thinking in systems. You are seeing the whole rather than the parts. You are understanding that the behavior of the system is an emergent property of its structure, not the sum of its components' individual efficiencies. This is the paradigm shift that Meadows described, the one that sits at the top of her leverage-point hierarchy.
Systems thinking, as a discipline, asks you to see interconnections rather than isolated events, to see patterns of change rather than static snapshots, and to see the structure that drives behavior rather than blaming individuals for outcomes that the structure made inevitable. Bottleneck analysis trains every one of these perceptual skills.
When you map your value stream, you see interconnections — how the output of one stage becomes the input of the next, how a delay in one place creates a queue in another, how an improvement at a non-constraint propagates zero benefit to the system.
When you maintain your bottleneck journal, you see patterns of change — how constraints shift over time, how seasonal rhythms affect which resource becomes the binding limit, how intervention at one constraint reliably surfaces the next.
When you apply the Five Focusing Steps, you see structure — you understand that the system's behavior (stuck throughput) is not caused by laziness or insufficient effort but by a structural property (the constraint) that will persist until the structure is changed.
This is why this phase is positioned where it is in the curriculum. You needed the cognitive infrastructure from earlier phases — mental models, decision frameworks, environment design — before you could engage with bottleneck analysis at this level. And you needed bottleneck analysis before you could move to the phases that follow, because the phases ahead will ask you to build increasingly sophisticated personal systems, and every one of those systems will have constraints that need to be managed.
The ongoing improvement engine
There is no final state. This is the hardest truth in constraint management, and the one that separates practitioners from theorists. You will never reach a point where your system has no bottleneck. You will never finish the cycle. Every constraint you resolve reveals the next one. Every elevation surfaces a new binding limit. The system improves, your throughput increases, and the constraint migrates — always. Goldratt called this the Process of Ongoing Improvement, and he capitalized it because it was, for him, the entire point.
This is not discouraging unless you mistake the goal for perfection. The goal is not a system without constraints. The goal is a system with a known, measured, actively managed constraint that you are continuously working to exploit, subordinate, and elevate. The difference between that system and the system you had before this phase is not the absence of bottlenecks. It is the presence of awareness.
Before this phase, your systems had bottlenecks and you did not know where they were. You worked hard across the board and wondered why output did not scale with effort. You optimized non-constraints and felt productive while accomplishing nothing systemic. You confused busyness with throughput and effort with progress.
After this phase, your systems still have bottlenecks. But you know where they are. You measure them. You exploit them before investing in elevation. You subordinate non-bottleneck steps to prevent queue buildup. You track the constraint over time and detect when it shifts. You have a journal that builds cumulative knowledge about your constraint patterns. You have an AI partner that extends your diagnostic capacity beyond what your unaided cognition can achieve.
That is the difference. Not perfection. Awareness. Not the absence of constraints. The presence of a system for managing them.
What comes after mastery
The word "mastery" in this lesson's title is not a destination. It is a relationship with the practice. Mastery of bottleneck analysis means you have internalized the cycle deeply enough that it runs as a background process — you notice queues forming without being told to look, you catch constraint shifts before they stall your throughput, you automatically ask "where is the leverage?" before committing optimization effort.
This is the same progression that any skill follows. First, conscious incompetence: you do not know where your bottleneck is and you do not know that you do not know. Then, conscious competence: you can identify and manage constraints, but it requires deliberate effort and structured practice. Then, unconscious competence: constraint awareness becomes perceptual — you see the bottleneck the way an experienced driver sees traffic patterns, without having to think about the framework.
You are somewhere in the transition from conscious incompetence to conscious competence. The twenty lessons of this phase have given you the framework, the vocabulary, the measurement tools, and the practice instruments. The transition to unconscious competence will take months of weekly constraint reviews, journal entries, and exploitation experiments. It cannot be rushed. It can only be practiced.
Goldratt died in 2011, but the Process of Ongoing Improvement he articulated continues in every system that takes constraint management seriously — from semiconductor fabrication plants that manage billion-dollar tool constraints to emergency departments that manage patient-flow bottlenecks to software teams that manage deployment-pipeline constraints. The Theory of Constraints has proven robust across every domain it has been applied to, and the reason is simple: every system has a constraint, and the operators who know their constraint outperform the operators who do not.
You are now one of the operators who knows. The cycle is running. The journal is open. The measurement is live. The only remaining question is whether you will continue the practice or let the framework decay into memory.
